Corporate lineage
Paraquat was developed by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) in the United Kingdom. ICI's agrochemical business was demerged into Zeneca in 1993; Zeneca's agrochemicals were spun off into Syngenta in 2000 in a merger with Novartis Agribusiness. Syngenta has been the corporate steward of paraquat throughout this period.
